After much persuasion from Melissa [and some coercion from John], reluctantly agreed to follow them to the Creative Writing Club's meeting after school on the condition that I would be allowed to play with John's stuffed turtle during the meeting. We were joined later by Paul and Sherman, following which the 5 of us promptly monopolized the backrow. Proclaimed ourselves to be mere "spectators" after Paul shot me a horrified look when one of the CWC seniors asked whether we were interested in signing up for CWC for good.

CWC is so slack! They gave us a full hour to write a piece [poetry or prose] based on any one of the following words: "annihilation" "cow, moon" and "James Dean". So we spent about a total of 10 minutes writing some really crappy essay about a cow who danced in a pasture and fell in love with James Dean, taking turns to contribute 4 words each. Spent the rest of the time just gossiping and making John's turtle vibrate across the table.

We tried to salvage our work beforehand by attempting to write a haiku (3 lines only!) but couldn't get the right number of syllables. So in the end got forced to read out our cow prose to the entire club which, needless to say, was totally embarassing.

Sherman: *at the end of the reading* At least it was different! ....and it goes to show that AH people aren't square!

Am undecided at the end of the day whether or not to join CWC. It depends how far I'd go to slack.

Still sore over yesterday's Drama's meeting...they extorted 30 dollars from me; I didn't even want that extra T-shirt! *grumbles* Ah and all J1s in drama have to buy tickets for Rashomon which is some production the seniors are putting up on the 30th of Jan at Barker. Tickets are priced only at 10 dollars! I'll be in charge of ticket sales on the 27th so come buy! :D

Tomorrow's CNY eve. Half the class wants to pon. Dilemma dilemma....*hm*

Have food poisoning (don't ever eat the longan jelly at AC). As such, have gained vital parental consent to skip school today. Shall spend the rest of the day recovering from one week of orientation...maybe I'll go learn the school song or something...I'm exhausted!

And my mum topped up my account hence saving me from what most certainly would've been the next Great Depression :D

Got our subjects on Monday...something I'm not too happy about. They've dumped me with Lit, Econs, History AND Geog! I didn't even take Geog in upper sec! Tried to appeal out of Geog but Geetha C just gave me another fiendish smile and went "Welcome to the academic world!" Hah. So the only other alternative now is to drop the scholarship and take 3 subjects. Argh!

On the bright side, our history and lit teachers totally rock ;) Our class also *Might not be taking SEA History (which is compulsory for the other classes) and instead just do European and Int'l history (yay!)

Going off to see the doctor now. Btw anyone interested in getting tickets for AC's Funorama on the 21st of Feb?

A trip to the bank with my mum reveals a very disturbing fact.

I only have 27 dollars in my bank account.

I'm even more broke than I thought I was!

And worse: I have no idea where the money went.

Too tired after orientation yesterday to blog. It went on until 6pm...and I survived the entire day on a single sandwich and Lemon Barley!

Thanks to Gwen for giving me a wakeup call at 6.30am thus preventing me from oversleeping.

Gwen: *sounding alert* Hello!
Me: *makes an indistinct noise* Urrrrrh....hello?
Gwen: Did I wake you up?
Me: *rolling out of bed* Urrrrrhhh....I'm sleeeeeepy.......eh. What time are we going to school arh?

Started walking out of my house at 7.10. Then saw the huge crowd of J2s at the gate and felt intimidated so I started to walk back home thinking that I'd go later (like, after assembly). But then I caught sight of Gwen and her brother alighting from a cab so went over to join them.

Spent first half of the day on the usual admin stuff. The DM gave a talk too - her voice bears remarkable resemblance to Veronica Siah. Her speech was...interesting to say the least.

DM: *introducing the discipline department* These are the teachers you should approach -
Gwen: *whispering* These are the teachers you should avoid!
DM: - if you are in trouble or are... *pauses* troubled....
Gwen: Or if you are trouble!

The DM specifically touched on not leaving school during school hours which just quashes all my plans for running back home and back again to school if I forget my homework :( On the bright side, rules generally seem more lax than Crescents'.

Went to apply for subjects later in the HUB/Hub (?) Have a feeling I have to take Cmaths.

Me: *to a teacher* ...I received the humanes scholarship and was wondering whether I have to state it on this form?
Teacher: Yes you do....*glances at my subject combo* Oh wait...you're taking a/o maths? *frowns* Ahh...yes...I see the problem...you did not take Amaths at O levels?
Me: Eh...no?
Teacher: *fiendish smile* Right, then we'll just have to make sure you take amaths.
Me: What??
Teacher: *smiles and walks away*

Crap.

At least I have still have Gwen's amaths textbook.

Spent second half of the day on activities. It took about 2 over hours to teach us some stupid dance! And some of the moves looked suspiciously like the parapara. Argh. *bad memories* Think I'm going to hear that song in my dreams. Most definitely going to continue having leg cramps till Sunday. Yingshi and I went all the way to the back so our obvious lack of dancing ability wouldn't be so noticeable and drove Mark (who was trying to hide behind us) to the front .

"Massive Fun" (so claimed by the orientation booklet) commenced at 3.30. A series of games/activites around the track. Fun!! Though there was this one disgusting activity where everyone had to dunk their heads into a bucket of water and then wring out all the water into plastic bags...the water was yellow! Upon this discovery Farrah, Jermaine and I started screaming and running around placing our hands protectively over our heads. Think Sharon got her head forced in by Andrew who went "Oh that's not low enough!! *push*" and subsequently got a mouthful of salt water. Argh! Have learnt also that my hair cannot retain water for nuts.

Bombed another clan and ran away before they could retaliate and get their water bombs. Heehee.

Was too exhausted to go look for Anjali at RJ. We'll make it another day k?
